PRAYER UPDATE April/May 2016
Outreach Ministry

Oasis
Lori continues to spend her Wednesdays at the Oasis, which is an outreach center to refugees situated just outside a refugee intake camp on the outskirts of Vienna. She comes home every week with incredible stories and it is obvious she both gains great joy from this time and is being used in wonderful ways there. On a recent Wednesday she was able to get into a spiritual conversation with a young woman just by complimenting her necklace. The necklace was of an anchor and Lori talked about how we as Christians have a hope and this hope is an anchor for our souls (Hebrews 6.19)

Central Vienna Refugee Center
There has been talk about the need for another center that would be closer to central Vienna. This past month this became a reality in another center called The Meeting Place. The Oasis, because of its location, ministers mostly to people who have just arrived in Austria and are first being processed into the "asylum seeker" system. The Meeting Place would work with these folks, but also with people who have already been given asylum and are doing the hard work of trying to assimilate into the culture. Our church sent 5 or 6 of us to the grand opening and we are in the process of deciding how we can best use our resources in this area. |

Please pray for the gospel to be spread in Vienna
That our church would continue to be outward looking and refine our plans for outreach.
That God would bring some to a saving knowledge of himself thought Lori's work at the Oasis.

Central EuropeApril Romania Trip
Over the years I (Tim) have had many opportunities to travel to Romania leading short term trips, and working with our BTCP board there. This year Lori was able to share in this with me as we traveled together across Northern Romania to meet up with a team from Denton, participate in the first ever World View Summit at a retreat center, meet with the BTCP board and hear of the ministry they are doing and continue discussions with our ministry partners from Ukraine who joined us for a day. We both came away encouraged, but it was particularly enlightening for Lori to meet the men we work with and get to know more about the ministry. from here. May Ukraine Trip Matt Eck and Tim will be leaving May 11th for another five day BTCP teaching trip to Boryslav, Ukraine. We plan on finishing the Bible Study Methods BTCP course and start the Old Testament Survey course on this trip. We will again have some critical meetings as we continue to work out details of what long term ministry for SERVE will look like in Ukraine. |
Please be in prayer for this week's trip to Ukraine
That God would be glorified in our teaching and preaching and that we would have great communication with our contacts there.
Pray also for wisdom as we plan for the future.

Serve Team AustriaIn our last newsletter we mentioned that Craig Harris started the process to come and join our team here in Vienna. Last week his youngest brother was visiting relatives and drown in a pond near College Station. To be honest, we have not spoken with Craig, but we know he and his family are being reached out to by Denton Bible Church and by SERVE.

Local Church
Over the past six months, I (Tim) was nominated to become an elder at our church and have subsequently been participating in Elder training classes. On April 10th we had elder elections and on April 24th I was ordained as one of the first elder team ever at our church. It was an important day in the life of New City Wien, it is an incredible responsibility and privilege to get to serve in this way.
