Prayer Letter February 2014
God is at Work
Thank you so much for all your prayers, they are
working. God has been at work in our
hearts to encourage us in the midst of language and culture learning. We are not only excited about the future and
what we believe God has in store for our team in this area of the world, but we
are also excited about what He is allowing us to participate in right now.
We are getting to know our local church, which is called New
City Wien, on a deeper level and are starting to make lasting friendships
there. A couple of weeks ago we became
Associate Members allowing us to keep our primary church membership at Denton
Bible Church. Lori and the pastor’s wife
have started a Women’s Bible Study that meets at our home on Wednesday nights,
while Tim is spearheading a Men’s prayer breakfast twice a month. Pray that our
relationships at New City Wien will grow stronger and that God will use the
meetings we are involved in to grow His church.
Here in Vienna, we both are meeting with local language
partners we found through the University of Vienna – they help us with our
German and we help them with their English.
These are helpful language experiences and we are developing some good
friendships through these times. Pray for spiritual fruit among the people we are meeting with!
Our team here is growing in size and becoming unified. We are in the process of defining who we are
as a team and the one thing that has come from that so far is that we all
deeply care for one another and genuinely enjoy one another’s company. What a wonderful thing that is. At the end of this month we are working
together to help facilitate the Leadership Academy which is a three day seminar
for people working with youth in churches.
Pray all will go well with the Academy, that God
will bring the right people to it and that He will be glorified through the
teaching and through our service.
We are also exploring specific ministry opportunities in the
Check Republic, Bulgaria, Montenegro, Slovenia and Croatia. We will keep you up to date regarding these
opportunities and seek your prayers as we travel to meet with people
there. For now, Pray
that God would continue to open the doors for us to help equip church leaders
in these places.
Jim and Brenda Brosch have arrived and applied for their Residency
Permits/Visas. We have
learned from a dependable source that even though they waited in line two
nights and a full day, they were not in the first 60 applications filed. God has already encouraged us through
them and we see how well they fit with our team and into ministry here, so we are trusting He will make a
way for them to be able to stay. Pray first
that enough people ahead of them either do not qualify for this type of Visa or
decide not to use their spot. Pray
also that God will lead us to a great alternative plan if this does not come to
pass.
We also want to welcome two new members to our team.
We are blessed to have John Brown and Chris Cobble stop in
on their way to teach in Romania next month.
They will be here to encourage our team and help us think through
priorities. Pray
for them as the travel and that we would have wonderful, productive meetings
with them while they are here.
As always, we can not thank God enough for you!
We praise Him for your love and friendship.
We praise Him for your prayers.
We praise Him for your financial support.
Even though we thank and praise God, please know .......
YOU are each appreciated.
