Prayer Letter JULY 2012
Who does that? Are we CRAZY? Last month we were able to visit longtime friends and reconnect with them. This month we have enjoyed spending some extended time with our family; all of our kids and grandkids, as well as a brother and his new wife have visited us this month. There are photos below of these precious people; God has been so good to give us this time with them at this point in our journey.
These past two months have been wonderful, but they have also made us a bit introspective. What will it be like living so far away from all our family and friends? We are moving to a place where we can count on two hands the number of people we know. Who does that? Are we crazy? We may be crazy … but God has laid it on our hearts to go and we believe we will know no real peace unless we do. When we visited Central Europe we were heart broken by all the churches and crosses that exist, but the lack of understanding of what they symbolize. It is as if people have walked past Jesus for years and have never really seen Him. What we are praying for is that we will one day be able to honestly say with Paul “I count all things to be loss in view of the surpassing value of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord, for whom I have suffered the loss of all things, and count them but rubbish in order that I may gain Christ” (Phil 3.8). We have learned that one way we gain Christ is through sharing the Gospel message with others; because when we do, that message is driven deeper into our own hearts. |
Prayer Requests Praise God with us for the sweet time he has given us with family over the past few weeks. Help us never to take these times for granted.
Continue to pray for Lori’s foot. Continue to pray for us to be diligent in our studies, for God to open our minds to learn German, and for us to pass the test to gain the certification we need to receive our residency visas! Pray also that we would have the opportunity to take the test in Houston soon. We thought we would have taken it by now, but the women who will be giving us the test has been in Germany the past few weeks. Continue to pray that God would keep our hearts fully devoted to Him during this preparation period, and continue to burden our hearts for the people of Austria, Central Europe and beyond. |
