Prayer Letter July 2014
Last month some of you asked for more photos, so we included not only a slide show, but a couple of videos below.
We used the writing of our May/June update to spend some time reflecting on our first year here in Vienna. That was a wonderful, refreshing exercise we recommend to each of you. Spend some time reflecting on where you are and how God has orchestrated your life to bring you this place. Then ask Him for wisdom as you contemplate where you are going. He is in control and we are so thankful for that assurance.
Much like in the US, summer here is completely different than the rest of the year. There actually seem to be more ministry opportunities as people take time off work.
We had the opportunity to help with Children’s English Camp at our church earlier this month. This is an outreach event intended to reach unchurched families who would love for their children to learn English in a fun and safe environment. A short term mission team from Florida came and put this camp on and it was amazing….filled with sports, bible stories and songs. They loved the children well! Our job as “locals” and church members was to greet the parents each day with coffee, and build relationships with them. This week was encouraging to us! At this point God has equipped us with enough German to have short conversations with the parents, reassure them and serve them. During the week children who were timid and had little or no English were singing songs, laughing and even memorized a Bible verse with motions.

- PLEASE PRAY that we would be faithful in our follow-up, and that these relationships will grow!
- PLEASE PRAY as we consider recruiting a team from Denton Bible Church for the 2015 camp.
- CONTINUE TO PRAY for our language development.
We have had some great time with our team lately getting together for fun activities outside of our regular team times. When it comes to ministry, we are each actively seeking God’s best use of our time. It has been good to simply have time together for meals or hikes in a park in the midst of that. God is at work here and we know He is navigating our lives to put us in the middle of what He is doing.
- PLEASE PRAY we would continue to have faith in his sovereignty as we seek to honor him in our ministry activities.
We are one week away from the English Teenager Camp (ETC) that Denton Bible Church puts on each year. As with the Children's English Camp, the team from Denton allow our team here to focus on developing the Austrian leaders for the camp. Our team also works hard to follow up with those leaders during the year and also as many as the campers as possible.
- PLEASE PRAY for English Teenager Camp 2014, that…
- … God would be glorified
- … some would come to know Him
- … longer term discipleship relationships would be formed.
Tim has been actively meeting with other mission leaders here in Vienna discussing visa issues and tax issues. We are making headway and hope to have a better understanding of the law in both areas soon which should open up new avenues for missionaries to come to Austria long term.
- PLEASE PRAY for clarity and wisdom in these areas.
- PLEASE PRAY that Jim and Brenda Brosch are able to join us long term soon - either by receiving the visa they applied for in January or through this new method.
