PRAYER UPDATE November 2016 - #1
New City Wien - Our Local Church Ministry
As many of you know, we have been attending New City Wien since we first arrived and it has been a real blessing to us. We have three areas we focus on as a church regularly – new Life, new Community and new City. This Fall we have been taking an intentional look at what it means to live lives as new creatures in Christ, doing this in community and striving to make an impact on the people here in Vienna.
This past weekend we had a church retreat. We were encouraged by a pastor from Scotland (with the accent and all) from the book of 1 Peter. There are some great lessons to be had – we are encouraged to live lives we are not able to live on our own strength (submitting to authority, living in unity, blessing those we do evil toward you). But we are reminded of how Jesus reacted when unjustly accused and that it is through is strength we are able. It was a great message for us personally and for many we spoke with throughout the weekend. (New Life!)
The church has grown significantly in the past couple of years to where we now have two services and our current facility will not be adequate for our needs for much longer. Last Spring I (Tim) and two other men joined our pastor as Elders in the church. One of my responsibilities as an Elder is to be the contact point for our Home Groups. We have a great foundation in this area and hope to continue to improve on it to ensure everyone is taken care of well by the church through these groups. (New Community!)
Lori and I are also both on the outreach team, along with Matt Eck. One thing we truly appreciate about the church we are sent from, Denton Bible Church, is how they have always emphasized reaching out to the community in creative ways. We at New City Wien are starting to foster that as well. A couple examples of this are: we have an active English Café that Lori works in where we invite anyone to come and practice their English with us and we are doing a few week trial run of a Drum and Dance Circle for refugees in the City (some of

Please pray for the gospel to be spread in Vienna
That our church would continue to be outward looking and refine our plans for outreach.
That God would bring some to a saving knowledge of himself thought Lori's work at the Oasis.
